There are many wonderful things to do in Melbourne. This Audio Tour comes with a map and will take you on an adventure of the historical locations.

These tours are in essence talking books complete with sound effect. Published and produced to the highest standards they are historically and factually accurate and also entertaining, containing anecdotal stories and folk law.

This tour is an historical tour around Port Phillip Bay. It starts at West Gate Bridge and finishes in Port Melbourne. It covers the first sightings of the bay by James Grant, its discovery in 1802 by Acct. Lt. John Murray, its brief period as a penal settlement before being uninhabited again by Europeans for thirty-two years until John Batman’s arrival in 1835.

[Followed, I might add, closely on his heels, by John Pasco Fawkner. (How was Batman to know that he was actually drinking in a hotel owned by Fawkner, when he boasted that he was ‘the greatest land owner of all time’ – indeed 10,000 square kilometres is a lot of land. Fawkner was all ears!)]
