Enhance your holiday travel experience by downloading this audio tour and exploring Cleveland to Columbus.
This program is designed to be played in your vehicle while driving Interstate 71 south from Cleveland to Columbus, Ohio. It offers a timed commentary on the region featuring its people, history, geography and especially stories that are unique to the area this highway takes us through.
Ask just about anybody who drives Interstate 71, and they are likely to tell you how boring this road is. Well, yes, it is boring. For the length of this road, everything looks about the same. Yet, theres more than meets the eye. Such as, youll pass the legendary community of Hinckley where each March the buzzards return. Why are they so loyal? Well tell you several stories that purport to account for this puzzling behavior. (You can choose the one you think most likely to be true.)
This route takes us through a region with the largest concentration of Amish in the world. Well tell about these plain people who have learned how to prosper in the modern world while resisting much of what modernity has produced. Then well pass by the community that is the center for the wooden carousel industry in the USA. (You might be surprised to learn that there even is a wooden carousel horse industry.)
And no trip along I-71 can be complete without telling the tale of the Bellville Gold Rush and noting the Locale of the Great Serpentit was said to travel as fast as a man and gorge itself on pigs and sheep. By the time we end this journey, well be entering the Columbus metropolitan area. Columbus is the only large city in Ohio thats growing. Well tell you why.
This tour covers ... Starting in Cleveland,Exit 218 Akron/Medina,Exit 186 Ashland/Wooster,Exit 165 Bellville/Lexington,Exit 131 Sunbury/Delaware.
